The Regulatory Council highlights the great work of both entities from Puerta to produce EVOO of the highest quality that is distributed throughout the world.
The Agrosegura Cooperative and ‘Alqueria de Camarillas’, both belonging to the Regulatory Council of the ‘Sierra de Segura’ Denomination of Origin and based in La Puerta de Segura, have achieved important quality awards in recent weeks with their certified EVOOs.
Agrosegura has won the prestigious Gold Medal in the Olive Japan quality contest, to which more than 800 samples from numerous countries have been submitted. To this recognition we must add the recently awarded Silver Medal of the ‘London International Olive Oil Competition’. Both awards that internationally recognize the excellent work carried out by the cooperative members of the Puerto Rican oil mill, which this campaign has also won one of the Squirrel Awards for quality granted by the Denomination of Origin ‘Sierra de Segura’.
For its part, ‘Alqueria de Camarillas’ has obtained the Gold Medal for the best food in the Flavor category at the ‘Dubai International Taste Awards’ for its Biodynamic oil certified by the Regulatory Council. It has also just achieved recognition in the Monte Carlo Masters of Olive Oil International Contest, which is awarded through a blind tasting by a jury made up of chefs and sommeliers from around the world, most of whom have Michelin stars. Its EVOO with DO ‘Sierra de Segura’ has also been awarded by the International Taste Institute in 2023, revalidating the one already obtained in 2022. The olive of this extra virgin olive oil from farms located in La Puerta de Segura collected in the months of October and November, which is why it has the ‘Early Harvest’ certification of the DO ‘Sierra de Segura’.
The Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin ‘Sierra de Segura’ highlights the great work being carried out by the two registered entities based in La Puerta de Segura to produce oils of the highest quality, which bear the name of the Segureña region all over the world. The Protected Designation of Origin ‘Sierra de Segura’, the oldest olive oil quality figure in Andalusia, covers a production area of 40,000 hectares belonging to more than 8,000 farmers from 14 municipalities in the northeast of the province of Jaén.
