The Regulatory Council of the “Sierra de Segura” Denomination of Origin predicts that the harvest of the current campaign will be slightly higher than that of the last one. Specifically, their estimate is that 67 million kilos of olives and around 12 million kilos of olive oil will be reached, since the average yield is expected to be around 18%.
In the 2022/2023 campaign, the entities registered with the Regulatory Council of the “Sierra del Segura” Denomination of Origin milled almost 10 million kilos of olive oil, so the forecast for this campaign would mean an increase in production of around of 20%. The estimate of the Denomination of Origin is in line with the capacity presented by the Junta de Andalucía, which foresees a rebound in production in the province of Jaén of around 20%.
